Prenatal/ New Patients
We encourage the new parents or the parents of new patients to schedule a visit with our office so that you can meet Dr. Maw, get to know her and have the chance to ask any questions directly.

Newborn Care at the affiliated hospitals
If you decide to choose Dr. Maw as your newborn’s pediatrician, please tell the birthing center before the delivery so that the nurse will notify Dr. Maw when the baby is born. Dr. Maw will come and check the baby at the hospital within 24 hours.

Well Child Visit
The 1st Newborn visit is recommended 2-3 days after discharge from the hospital to make sure the baby is properly feeding, check for jaundice, weight and discuss any other concerns a parent may have.
Then, routine checkups are scheduled at 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months , 18 months and 2 years of age. Afterwards, we recommend well child visits once a year. These visits include complete physical examination, vaccination, monitoring of growth and development as well as counseling regarding weight, nutrition, behavior and anticipatory guidance.
A hearing test and visual evoked potential (VEP) test are also available for certain age group if the insurance permits. The VEP system is able to detect vision defects earlier than traditional vision tests as young as six months of age because it has the ability to test the child’s entire visual pathway without the need for the patient to respond.

Same day sick visit
We attempt to accommodate sick visits on the same day. We recommend you to call our office as early as possible if you feel that your child needs an appointment.

Urgent Care
Please call 911 if there is a life threatening emergency. Please call our office if your child needs an immediate visit for some serious condition such as difficult breathing, wheezing, asthma attack, vomiting and injuries.

Physical exams for school, sports, camp and college
We recommend having physicals around April or May before the high demand during summer. Please provide us with an immunization record.

ADHD (Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder) visit
We recommend a follow up visit every 3 months to ensure effectiveness of the medication, adjustment of dosage, monitoring of weight and growth, side effects of medication or change of the medication if necessary.

Recheck and Follow up visits
It is important to make and keep the follow up appointment for certain conditions such as pneumonia, asthma flare up, bronchiolitis, wheezing, persistent fever, sinusitis, seasonal allergies and constipation to see if there is improvement or need for further workup.
We recommend follow up visits for asthma every 3- 6 months and every 6 months for any condition which requires a medication refill.
